  CATMAN'S PROFILE

Why Catman? Read Roger Marshals book, "Roger and Out", to find out! Catman's real name is Paul and I have worked with motorcycles and cars most of my life.

I began my motorcycle career in 1978 in a Kawasaki main dealer workshop in Paddock Wood, Kent and in 1982 moved to the UK based Heron Suzuki race team where I built and maintained 500cc GP and both 1000cc and 750cc F1 motorcycles. I then worked for a Kent based car importer for 10 years as a troubleshooting engineer and also during that time provided engineering services to local motorcycle dealers and workshops.

Although in the 1990's I was working in the car industry I was asked by Suzuki Japan to provide mechanical assistance to Japanese riders who were taking part in the GSX-R World Cup Series finals in Spain, France & Germany. I also rebuilt and maintained factory Suzuki's and other race machines to be ridden at various displays such as the 1997 Mallory Park revival with George Beale, the Goodwood Sheene Memorial day, the ACU Sheene Fun Day, 2009, 2010 and 2011 Spa Bikers Classic meetings, 2010 Assen Centennial, 2010 and 2011 Imola Revivals, South African TT etc. I was part of building and maintaining the 1985 Suzuki GSX-R 750 used by Mick Grant to win the inaugural MCN Superstock Series. It is still being used today for parades. Recently with its present owner, who needed to gear it up as the engine was hitting the revlimiter, it achieved 167mph and was still accelerating. Not bad for a near standard 1985 slabside GSX-R 750!!

I have experience with all aspects of road, road race, motocross, trail and trials motorcycles. I have even built a competition kit car for a friend which uses a standard injected 1000cc Honda Fireblade engine. Check out the Services page to see how I can help you.
